One of this company's newest on the market is the XT SL but, this company leads in the safety department by always going the extra step.

The RadianXT SL is a convertible car seat for rear facing children 5 - 45 lbs and forward facing children 20-80 lbs in a 5-point harness. Its STEEL ALLOY frame is NCAP crash tested making it the strongest car seat in the world. Their special and unique "Super LATCH system" ensures the easiest installation using the vehicle’s lower anchors up to 80 lbs – no seat belt required.

A height adjustable, Aluminum Reinforced head support and protective EPS Foam surround your kids head and body to provide the most complete Side Impact protection of any car seat, and the "Safe Stop" energy absorbing harness system. This car seats low profile offers easy car fitting and its design provides more shoulder room while still being able to fit 3 of these across in a car. The Shelby COBRA

The Shelby COBRA

The Shelby COBRA, Also known as the AC cobra.

AC Cobras had a pretty Big racing career. Shelby wanted it to be the "Corvette Beater" and at nearly 500lb less than the Chevrolet Corvette, the lightweight car did just that. It was February 2, 1963 at Riverside International Raceway that the driver of the Cobra Dave MacDonald beat an impressive field of Corvettes, Jaguars, Porsche's, and Maserati's to give the Cobra its first ever victory. Later, Shelby offered a drag package, known as the Dragon snake!! This Cobra won several NHRA National events with Bruce Larson or Ed Hedrick at the wheel. How cool is that! Dragon snake Pic Below.

Cool Shirts!

The Cobra was SO successful as a performance car and that is contributed to the putting in to placement of the national speed limits in the United Kingdom. An AC Cobra Coupe was clocked to have done 186 mph on the M1 motorway in 1964, driven by Jack Sears and Peter Bolton during shakedown tests prior to that year's Le Mans 24h race. However, government officials have cited the increasing accident death rate in the early 1960s as the principal motivation behind speed laws.

The Cobras Competition Above (The Corvette Z06)

Although being successful in racing, the AC Cobra was a financial mess, which led Ford and Carroll Shelby to discontinue importing cars from England in 1967. AC Cars kept producing the coil spring AC Roadster with narrow fenders, a small block Ford 289 and called the car the AC 289. It was built and sold in Europe until late 1969. AC also produced the AC 428 until 1973. The AC "Frua" was built on a stretched Cobra 427 MK III coil spring chassis using a very cool steel body designed and built by Pietro Frua. With the demise of the 428 and succeeding 3000ME, AC shut their doors in 1984 and sold the AC name to a Scottish company. The company's tooling, and eventually the right to use the name, were licensed by Autokraft, a Cobra parts reseller and replica car manufacturer owned by Brian A. Angliss. So you can still get your hands on replicas of this little muscle car!

Datson to Datsun to Nissan

Datson to Datsun to Nissan
A quick look at the History of Nissan's beginning

Datsun,  the name was created in 1931 by the DAT Motorcar Company. So for a new car model, spelling it as "Datson" to indicate its smaller size (son), when compared to the existing, larger DAT car. Later, in 1933 after Nissan Motor Company took control of DAT Motorcar Company,  (Nissan being the higher end of Datsun at the time), that SON of DatSON was changed to "SUN", because "son" also means "loss" in Japanese. You don't want Looser depicted on your cars or trucks! Also this change would then honour the sun depicted in their national flag. Nissan would then go on to fizzle out the Datsun brand in March 1986. The Datsun name is most famous for the sports cars referred to as the Fairlady roadsters and later the Fairlady 240Z coupes.

A little more on the beginning of the Datsun, was an automobile named the (DAT car). It was built way back in 1914, by the Kaishinsha Motorcar Works.  The use of the Datsun name in the American market derives from the name Nissan used for its Production cars. In fact, the cars produced by Nissan already used the Datsun brand name, a successful brand in Japan since 1932, long before World War II. Katayama wanted to build and sell passenger cars to people, not to the military. For him it was the name "Datsun" that survived the war with its purity intact, not "Nissan". Nissan had a big hand in World War II where as Datsun did Not. This led Katayama to have problems with corporate management.

Katayama was made Vice President of the Nissan North American company in 1960, he was involved in decision making with both North American and Japans Nissan Motor Company. From 1965 to 1975, the cars were sold as Datsuns with the goal of slowly changing the name to the Now Nissan.

The decision to change the name Datsun to Nissan in the U.S. was announced in the fall of 1981. The thought was that the name change would help the pursuit of a global strategy. A single name worldwide would increase the possibility that advertising campaigns, brochures, and promotional materials could be used across countries and simplify product design and manufacturing. Further, potential buyers would be exposed to the name and product when traveling to other countries.

However the Nissan automobile market got here, it's a good thing. Their cars, truck and suv's are vehicles that are in it for the long haul. I see many upon many older Datsuns and Nissan's running strong today.

In the Beginning of the Automobile

In the Beginning of the Automobile

THE FIRST MOTORCYCLE

On the way TOO the Automobile, the first Gas powered motorcycle was made!

In November 1885, A man by the name of Daimler who was one of the Very first inventors in gas powerd engines, installed a smaller version of his engine's for the soon to be first auto's, in to a wooden two wheeled frame cycle, creating the first GAS combustion motorcycle. It was named the "Reitwagen" (riding car). Maybach (Partner to Daimler), rode it for three miles alongside a river's side road getting up to a whopping 7 mph.

Picture Above is a Picture of Wilhelm Maybach

Also in 1885, unknown to Maybach and Daimler, only sixty miles away in Mannheim, a man by the name of Karl Benz, built the first TRUE automobile using an integral design for a motorized vehicle with one of his own engines. He was granted a patent for his first automobile and it was named the "Motorwagen" on January 29, 1886.

Picture Above is of Karl Benz

The Motorwagen Below!

I guess you can say that Mercedes Benz is a Large founder of our known Auto World today! Being one of the quicker inventors at the time.

The Hummer's

-The Hummers-

The original Hummers were first designed and built by American Motor General Corp., which was formerly AMC Jeep's General, assembly plant. The vehicles were created under a contract for the United States armed forces. The first model, the Humvee, was built in a variety of military based equipment and way's. The $1.2 billion contract won by AM General in 1983 was to produce 55,000 Humvees by 1985, which was later increased by 15,000 more.

AM General had planned to sell a civilian/everyone else version of the Humvee as far back as the late 1980s. Having the same structure and most mechanical components, the civilian Hummers were fancied up with gloss paint, adding passenger car touches such as air conditioning, sound insulation, upgraded upholstery, stereo systems, wood trim, and convenience packages. The civilian model began in part because of the persistence of the all known Arnold Schwarzenegger, who saw an Army convoy while filming a movie. Thats all it take's for Arnold I guess.

A cool test done was In 1990, two matching white Humvees were driven from London to Beijing over the rough roads of central Soviet Union. The Hummers made the trip with ease, because that's what they were built to do. The highlights of this journey were broadcasted in the United States on ESPN. This publicity would pale in comparison to the attention that the Humvee received for its services in the Gulf War with the military version the following year. Also, a privately owned Humvee was modified into the first Snow Vee, including the addition of caterpillar tracks, a new rear compartment and a new engine. This vehicle was designed for use in and just below the Arctic Circle, and the Antarctic. Here's a picture of one such as that.

In 1992, AM General began selling a civilian version of the M998 Humvee vehicle to the public under the brand name "Hummer".

In December 1999, AM General sold the brand name to General Motors, but continued to manufacture the them. GM was responsible for the marketing and distribution of all Hummers produced by AM General. Shortly after all this, GM introduced two of its own design models, the H2 and H3, and renamed the original vehicle H1, I guess to keep it all simple. AM General continued to build the H1 until it was discontinued in 2006, and was contracted by GM to produce the H2. The H3 was built in Los Angeles right next to the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups, with which it shared the (GMT-355 platform) modified and designated GMT-345. So the H3 at THIS point was a whole new breed.

By 2006, the Hummer began to be sold through importers and distributors in 33 countries. About the time of October 2006, GM began producing the Hummer H3 in South Africa for international markets. The Hummers built there at first were only left hand drive, but right hand drive versions were added and sent to Australia and others. After all this then journey of the Hummer's the Hummer would then slow down dramatically in production and sale due to economy and Fuel prices. However the Hummer will Live on with new ownership rumor has it.

Here's a interesting and funny picture of how to use a Hummer.

How would you like to get pulled over BY THAT!

Worlds Smallest Car!!!!

The Peel P50! Worlds Smallest Car

The Peel P50 is a THREE wheeled Micro car manufactured in 1962 and 1965 by a company by the name of, Peel Engineering Company. It currently holds the record for the smallest automobile to go into production.
Designed as a city car, it was advertised as being able to seat "one adult and a shopping bag." The vehicle's only door was on its left side, and equipment included a single windshield wiper and only one headlight, funny huh! They only came in three color's, two blue's and a Red. Blue's being one darker then the other.
In 2010 production of a replica version was started by a newly formed company, also called Peel Engineering. Externally this car was very similar to the original but with many major differences in the suspension, steering and drive train. Driven by an ELECTRIC motor and with a top speed of 10 mph, this version was produced as a display vehicle and was not road legal. In 2011 production kept going on a new road legal GAS version. Most colors from the original are used in the 2010 models with only Dark Blue being replaced by a color called Capri Blue. Would you buy one?

Crazy little car isn't it! Here's a Video done by a Top rated show over in England on BBC called Top Gear. It's a great show and this episode is one of their funniest. See this car in action, CLICK the Linked Video below!

Super Duper Detail

Q: How much do you charge for an exhaustive detail? And do you give group discounts? I understand you're having a drawing for those who ask questions... Thanks, Robin

A: Hi Robin,  An exhaustive detail, I like that term. If you are talking about trying to bring it back to the original condition by all means necessary than it depends on size, color and what you mean by exhaustive. We start at 125.00 and that is for a buff , tire dress, shampoo, wheel wells and of course a scrub down of all the interior parts and glass. If you are talking about really getting down into every crack and crevasse and taking things apart to make sure there is not a single french fry is still stuck on the seat frame, than clay barring to remove all tar and bugs, cutting the entire painted surface with a high speed buffer, than polishing with said buffer than a hand wax to be sure the shine holds, than you are talking between 200.00 and 500.00 again depending on size color. So call me if you have anymore questions 253 223 7771

Mazda Protege with blown motor

Q:I have a 2003 Mazda Protege with a blown engine. When my son was 16 he ran it with no water and no oil. UGH!! Anyway, what is the best way to sell it as is and get the most money out of it???

A;  Hi Suzanne,  The car is probably worth around 500.00  with a bad motor. The book, without knowing the miles and condition is probably around 3500 and a motor replacement is anywhere from 1500 to 4000 depending on miles, warranty, and where you have it done. I do know someone who would buy it so let me know what you decide.

1 day until drawing for the detail dont be lazy all you have to do is follow, email,or ask a question

Change of plan on winning the detail.

Since sometimes its not always easy to come up with a question, now all you have to do  is, enter your email on the blog page and you will be entered to WIN a 159 dollar detail on wednesday.

Quick Detail Trick

Its time to break out the wash bucket and whatever infomercial wax you bought last year, summer time is here, or maybe just a hint of it. If you live in Washington like I do than this is a long awaited time.  The sun peaks out just a little and the every drive thru and self service car wash is packed to the gills only to have it rain ten minutes later , but like all good junkies we just go back the next day when we have twenty minutes of the good stuff. Proof that a shiny car is makes everyone feel good. If you are tired of washing and waxing only to have to do it again in a week than I offer some great advice that I have learned over the years through trial and error and owning detail shops. The trick to a shiny car is a clean car and I am not talking about a regular wash and dry job. The reason your car looks dull is build up. It comes from driving on the roads in the rain, the road is covered with oil from the asphalt, your leaky engine, tire dressing etc. It gets on your car and when you wash it with that wax style soap you dont get any of it off. I am not saying you dont need to wax, of course a  polished car looks fantastic even if its a beater. So instead of waxing constantly is what you can do is make sure you wash your car with hot detergent soap to get off all the road grime, you will be amazed at how good it looks with that layer of gunk gone. Another way is to clay bar it if you really have been neglecting ole betsy all winter. When you are done just use a spray wax for a quick polish instead of blowing out your shoulder with that super thick carnuba. When you know the weather is going to be good for awhile than go nuts but until then remember a good hot bath, tire dressing and super clean glass can look like a 200 dollar detail in about 30 minutes
Happy driving and stay tuned for more information that I always thought would die with me until I learned how to blog.

This is AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!

My First Car

I will never forget the first time I got to drive all alone without an adult it was like nothing I had ever experienced. The freedom was some of it but what was really incredible was the cold plastic steering wheel, the smell of cheap vinyl and dirty carpet, the sound of that 1972 Toyota Corona or the lack of sound, it wasnt a real hot rod but it still had four tires and ran on gasolline. whatever it was, it was awesome. I had my brother and his friend with me and we just drove around Lake Tapps like it was the first time we had been on those roads. Everything was better when I was behind the wheel. I did get pulled over that night for running a couple stop signs and doing 90 in a 35  but even as I handed my dad my brand new drivers license I was still happy that I had just spent three hours doing whatever behind the wheel of that little Toyota.

Do you have a love of cars? Tell us what your first experience was that started that love.

p1486 code on your vehicle is Evap Leak Monitor Pinched Hose Detected. You need to inspect all your evaporitive emmisions hoses need to be checked for kinks or blockage. If no problem is found replace the Leak detection pump.

Odometer Roll back

If you purchase a Ford Explorer (4wd) and the transfer case is completely full of a thick black grease and the odometer is rolled back over 100,000 miles, does that indicate a cover up in order for the dealership to sell the vehicle?

If the odometer is rolled back than that is enough to walk away. If the mileage on the licensing paper work that you signed is marked "exceeds mechanical limits" than the dealership doesn't have to prove true mileage but if it is advertised as a certain mileage than you should bring it to the attention of the dealership than the attorney general.

Can I turn my gas car into a vegetable oil burning car? Joe

Here is a link on how to convert a diesel engine.....but gas motors need a higher combustible fuel than carrot juice.  Thanks for the question and you have been entered into the drawing.

Stalling Toyota

Why is my camry stalling out some times when I don't have my foot on the excelerator going down hill? Do you think it could be the fuel filter that might need changed?

Is the check engine light on?  If not than you most likely have a fuel issue of some sort. You could start with a filter and if that doesnt work than next is the pump.  I know a great mechanic that will cut you a break on diagnostic if I talk to him first. Let me know what you come up with.
