 In the Beginning of the Automobile

THE FIRST MOTORCYCLE



On the way TOO the Automobile, the first Gas powered motorcycle was made!

In November 1885, A man by the name of Daimler who was one of the Very first inventors in gas powerd engines, installed a smaller version of his engine's for the soon to be first auto's, in to a wooden two wheeled frame cycle, creating the first GAS combustion motorcycle. It was named the "Reitwagen" (riding car). Maybach (Partner to Daimler), rode it for three miles alongside a river's side road getting up to a whopping 7 mph.

Also in 1885, unknown to Maybach and Daimler, only sixty miles away in Mannheim, a man by the name of Karl Benz, built the first TRUE automobile using an integral design for a motorized vehicle with one of his own engines. He was granted a patent for his first automobile and it was named the "Motorwagen" on January 29, 1886.

I guess you can say that Mercedes Benz is a Large founder of our known Auto World today! Being one of the quicker inventors at the time.
