Quick Detail Trick

Its time to break out the wash bucket and whatever infomercial wax you bought last year, summer time is here, or maybe just a hint of it. If you live in Washington like I do than this is a long awaited time.  The sun peaks out just a little and the every drive thru and self service car wash is packed to the gills only to have it rain ten minutes later , but like all good junkies we just go back the next day when we have twenty minutes of the good stuff. Proof that a shiny car is makes everyone feel good. If you are tired of washing and waxing only to have to do it again in a week than I offer some great advice that I have learned over the years through trial and error and owning detail shops. The trick to a shiny car is a clean car and I am not talking about a regular wash and dry job. The reason your car looks dull is build up. It comes from driving on the roads in the rain, the road is covered with oil from the asphalt, your leaky engine, tire dressing etc. It gets on your car and when you wash it with that wax style soap you dont get any of it off. I am not saying you dont need to wax, of course a  polished car looks fantastic even if its a beater. So instead of waxing constantly is what you can do is make sure you wash your car with hot detergent soap to get off all the road grime, you will be amazed at how good it looks with that layer of gunk gone. Another way is to clay bar it if you really have been neglecting ole betsy all winter. When you are done just use a spray wax for a quick polish instead of blowing out your shoulder with that super thick carnuba. When you know the weather is going to be good for awhile than go nuts but until then remember a good hot bath, tire dressing and super clean glass can look like a 200 dollar detail in about 30 minutes
Happy driving and stay tuned for more information that I always thought would die with me until I learned how to blog.
